Description
You saw NEXØ absolutely destroying MPF2026 didn’t you? We hope so.
Well, one of the greatest live bands around are back with a new record.
On side A you have the brand new EP, MINDFUL INACTION, and on side B electronic composer Messell has created new music, recycling sounds made by NEXØ, which is very cool.
Recycling is good. All records are pressed on recycled vinyl, giving each record a unique color.
Pressing: 500
“Never before have we humans been so informed about the world around us.
We are well aware that the hamster wheel is unhealthy. We know that we are not treating the earth as well as it has treated us. We know that unspeakable horror is happening around the clock, and that the bombs are falling whether we share them on social media or not.
We are well aware that the hamster wheel is unhealthy. We know that we are not treating the earth as well as it has treated us. We know that unspeakable horror is happening around the clock, and that the bombs are falling whether we share them on social media or not.
But the massive information flow is infested with shiny distractions and constant pressure to self-improve, making it nearly impossible to stay focused and get involved in the necessary struggles. When we’re bombarded with information, and understand the injustice of the world, yet fail to act, we are in a state of what we’ve dubbed “mindful inaction”.
Growing up in a world after the great revolutions, the system seems so ubiquitous and eternal that imagining anything else can be hard, even when disaster dominates the airwaves, and the current system is clearly to blame. Sure, we post about burning children and burning forests. We sign petitions and buy local, but we are stuck in this apathetic no-man’s land where we don’t pose a real threat to the status quo. We keep scrolling and it all continues. The crying emoji doesn’t have enough digital tears to represent the hole we feel inside, as the blood coagulates and history repeats itself.
It’s not that we’re not aware. It’s not that we don’t care. We simply know too much and do too little.
When Morpheus gave Neo the choice between the red and the blue pill, it didn’t occur to Neo that there was a third option. Our generation has swallowed both pills in one greedy gulp, and now we live with the consequences of being terribly conscious and seemingly incapable of doing anything real in a world constantly viewed through phony filters.
But with vigilance and empathy comes the potential for real commitment and real change. Although it seems overwhelming, we must believe that we can turn our somewhat harmless internet protest into truly transformative activism by taking the right measures. Only a single tap of the spacebar is the difference between “Mindful Inaction” and “Mindful In Action”.
NEXØ is the timbre in this tension between apathy and action. “
NEW SOUND
Punk music has had a tendency to be restrained by gatekeeping and a lack of innovation – thankfully that seems to be changing right now. A new type of punk is making its way onto the big stages – and is doing so without renouncing the uncompromising style that is the essence of the genre. NEXØ is a part of this wave of new bands proving that punk should not follow dogma and strict genre restrictions, but rather break the mold. Because more than anything punk is a type of artistic expression and an unmistakable energy.
NEXØ’s fourth release, the EP Mindful Inaction, is released in the Spring of 2025. In the creative process the band decided to throw all conventions overboard, ending up with an ambitious and versatile result where intense punk is mixed with krautrock, post-punk, psychedelic indie and stoner. The new NEXØ has the potential to excite a far broader audience than previously.
Previously NEXØ has released an EP and the two full length albums, New Normal (2019) and False Flag (2022). The latter resulted in a record deal with TNS Records (UK), Kink Records (DE) and 5FeetUnder Records (DK) as well as cooperation with Paperclip Agency (NL) and Lasher Agency (DK).
NEXØ is a highly energetic punk band from Copenhagen, Denmark.
The four-piece unite the frantic drive of hardcore punk with heavy, psychedelic soundscapes and digital effects, mirroring a world undergoing rapid and brutal change. The music is a raw fist of noise but always with a keen sense of melody.
NEXØ was founded by four experienced musicians who decided to make important, aggressive music together, fueled by the horrors of a burning planet and the global decline of objective truth. The band is named for an anti-fascist volunteer brigade from the Spanish Civil War and as such the project is fundamentally political, but the music always comes first. Without good songs and an engaging live presence, the message would be lost.
When NEXØ play live they elicit a sense of sheer urgency. Something is at stake. They take pride in creating an experience that keeps resonating under the skin – delivered with frantic joy and teeth-clenching presence – every time they play. The music alternates between layers of effects and clean walls of raw sound, like the reality they’re referring – a reality distorted by filters and spin. It’s a goddamn cliché, but a show with NEXØ is blood, sweat and tears blasted through an amplifier. Their intense live shows have brought NEXØ to 8 different countries, sharing the stage with bands like Dead Kennedy’s, War on Women, The Restarts, D.R.I. and many more.
