Driven by a relentless guitar riff and a shout-along breakdown that has already ignited crowds at shows across the UK, “Anxieties” is hardcore punk with intent. It’s anger with purpose, not posturing. A call to push back against the people and systems that grind you down, weaponising fear, uncertainty, and division to stay in power.

The song was written against the backdrop of the summer 2024 riots, as a country already in chronic decline after 14 years of Tory rule saw far-right “patriots” take to the streets. Towns and cities across the UK were targeted as people of colour were intimidated, families terrorised, and communities attacked – all cheered on by figures like Tommy Robinson, Nigel Farage, and the right-wing gutter press.

“If you were setting fire to bins and screaming at terrified families in a Travelodge in summer 2024,” the band state, “this song is about you.”

Lyrically, “Anxieties” confronts a nation stripped of hope, where the rich continue to steal from the poor, heroes are nowhere to be found, and uncertainty is deliberately cultivated to keep people divided and afraid. The track erupts into a collective refusal to stay silent, culminating in a defiant chant of solidarity and resistance:

“Fuck you, you fascist scum!”

The closing line is a deliberate nod to Woody Guthrie, echoing his immortal words: “All you fascists are bound to lose.” A reminder that resistance has history, and a future.

Grail Guard

Formed in 2022 from decades-long friendships and collaborations in Midlands DIY scenes, Grail Guard have already built a reputation as one of the UK’s most uncompromising hardcore bands. With over 100 shows in three years, appearances alongside national and international heavyweights, and a maximum-capacity debut at Manchester Punk Festival 2025, the band are turning fury into momentum.

“Anxieties” was recorded by Jon Priestley (Godfathers, The Damned, Gash) at Abatis Studios, capturing the band’s raw aggression without dilution.
